ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF THEATRE

The Performing Arts Department at Missouri Southern State University invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Theatre, beginning the fall of 2023.

The ideal candidate will have experiential knowledge in all areas of theatre; however, particularly important to this campus is a background in public school education and musical theatre, which will help to guide our growing programs in these areas. We are seeking someone who will teach courses in Applied Acting, Theatre/Music-Theatre History, Stage Directing, Stage Management, Dramaturgy, Theatre-Education, and the general education curriculum, as necessary. Other responsibilities include directing the fall musical and the spring play, with further performance opportunities to potentially come as the program grows. Experience building, developing, and maintaining a theatre program through strong recruitment and retention strategies, in addition to building close ties with a supportive community, is a must.

QUALIFICATIONS

An earned terminal degree is required by the start of the position in August 2023. Candidates who possess an MFA or PhD in a theatre-focused area will receive full consideration with the requisite experience and qualifications.
