Who We Are

With three campuses along Colorado’s Front Range, Front Range Community College is the state’s largest community college. We enroll close to 28,000 students annually from our diverse service area, which offers a variety of cultural and recreational activities.

Who You Are

As the full-time faculty member in the Recording Arts Technology program, you will also serve as director and lead faculty of the traditional Music program. You are a leader who will expand the Recording Arts Technology program into areas such as sound for film/video/podcasts, field recording, animatics, etc. You will also advise and mentor students in both Recording Arts Technology and Music.


In addition to teaching audio production classes, you will also grow the Recording Arts Technology program and add new offerings in sound design/audio production. As this is a career technical program, you will work with an advisory board of local industry leaders to assess industry needs and aid in placing FRCC graduates. you will also provide program leadership and student support in collaboration with Recording Arts Technology faculty and related area faculty across the college.

In this role, you will collaborate with IT staff to ensure that hardware/software in the Audio labs works properly and is up to date. This may include light troubleshooting and repair of equipment as well as coordinating more significant repairs with IT staff. You will also advise students on course selection, career options, and internship opportunities.

You work individually, as well as in collaboration with colleagues, to develop innovative curriculum which meets the needs of our diverse population of students. Student retention and success is your top priority. You will utilize technology and effective teaching strategies to develop students’ critical thinking skills.


As a faculty member you act as a mentor for the part-time instructors. You serve as representative of the department by participating in committees, task forces, and events at the campus, college, and/or state levels. You may be asked to teach at different times, locations and modalities to meet the needs of the College.


Please note: this is an on-campus position with some remote work opportunities. You need to be a Colorado resident on your first day of employment.

Qualifications

Required Education/Training & Work Experience:

  • Master’s degree in one of several related degrees listed below. Also allowed, a Master’s degree in any field, plus 18 graduate credits in one of the related degrees listed below.
  • Demonstrated expertise in audio production, applied music technologies, or related field in Recording Arts, Sound Design, and Music.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Colorado Vocational Credential in recording arts technology.

  • Related Degree, Credential, and/or Occupational/Academic Experience in: Music Production, Music Engineering, Sound Recording Technology, Audio Production, Audio Technology, Recording Arts or a related degree.

  • MFA, PhD, DMA
