Summary:


This new position, timed with the recent launch of the Rollins College Alumni Engagement Strategic Plan, will provide support for all aspects of the plan - with primary focus on the Early Engagement / Young Alumni section. This dedicated role will work to create stronger alumni awareness and loyalty with current Rollins students and recent graduates. (Alumni graduating in the past ten years.)

The Assistant Director has three primary target focal points:
  1. Development and execution of a specific young alumni strategic plan to engage and steward young alumni,
  2. Create connections for young alumni and current students,
  3. Build awareness of alumni programs and events for current students with an emphasis on providing resources and communications for seniors as they prepare to become young alumni.

The Assistant Director reports to the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement and serves as an integral part of the Alumni engagement team.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop strong and effective relationships with student - centered campus partners.
  • Facilitate on-campus and virtual networking opportunities for students with alumni.
  • Deepen student awareness of the alumni network and alumni programming.
  • Develop, deploy, and promote programs for young alumni and students that support the alumni engagement strategic plan.
  • Create new programming and initiatives that add value for Rollins' students and young alumni.
  • Maintain close working relationships with colleagues from across Institutional Advancement, Rollins Marketing, and other campus partners.
  • Research best practices, current trends, strategies, and services pertaining to engagement of current students and young alumni.
  • Identify ways for young alumni to give back to the college.
  • Provide group administrative support for young alumni centric groups through RollinsConnect, the school's alumni engagement platform.
  • Event planning and logistics for student and young alumni engagement.
  • Collaborate and work closely with Alumni Engagement team to recruit and deploy alumni volunteers.
  • Support Giving day and other student and alumni giving programs, marketing & Communications.
Minimum Qualifications
& Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Two to four years' experience in event planning and constituent relations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity and inclusion.
  • Experience employing technology, digital marketing tools, data management and analytics to optimize alumni engagement. Familiarity with relevant and contemporary tools/technologies for email marketing, social media (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Sprout), web content management, video, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Possess persuasive writing and editing skills with an attention to detail; thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, and grammar.
  • Demonstrated initiative, creative energy, and ability to manage complex projects or communications. Flexible, self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working in ambiguous and ever changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Superior planning, project management and organizational skills; keen attention to detail; ability to set and balance multiple priorities and manage time effectively in a deadline-driven environment. Be an active problem solver.
  • Creative and resourceful thinker with strong skills in collaboration and partnership-building. Ability to work independently and as a team player while handling multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to become expert in how to use tools (RollinsConnect) to increase engagement for affinity groups as aligned with Alumni Weekend programming.
  • Computer fluency including Microsoft Office Suite, ability to learn and utilize CRM database, reporting tools, and other technology/systems.
  • A strong desire to learn the unique characteristics and culture of Rollins College and appreciate the passion and expectations of its alumni.
  • Ability to handle confidential information, maintain and update files with high degree of accuracy, and sensitivity to the importance of alumni relations.
  • Possess a valid driver's license, or ability to obtain an Florida driver's license within 30 days of accepting the job, and acceptable MVR are required.

Preferred
Qualifications:

  • Alumni events and volunteer management experience.
  • Higher education or non-profit experience.

Work Environment:
  • Campus-based, front-facing customer service position, working in an office environment.
  • Work requires visual strain and use of computer.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends required throughout the year including Family Weekend, Alumni Weekend, and select board meetings.
