Responsibilities The successful candidate is expected to teach courses offered by the department of Human Development and Family Science (HDFS). The primary responsibility is contributing to the achievement of the HDFS undergraduate teaching mission, with the possibility of being involved in graduate teaching. The candidate will deliver HDFS content, particularly in the domains of lifespan human development. The candidate will deliver instruction through both traditional classroom formats and on-line formats. The successful candidate will be committed to excellent instruction and is expected to develop and refine alternative instructional methods. The teaching expectation for 9-month specialized faculty positions is four courses in each of the fall and spring semesters. The candidate is also expected to provide service at the college and/or department level.

Qualifications Applicants should have the following qualification: earned doctorate in Human Development and Family Science or related field, with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching.

Other Information The Department of Human Development and Family Science currently has 18 faculty, 442 undergraduate students, and 47 Masters/Ph.D. students. Our programs focus on child development, family processes, and relationship interventions. Specifically, our research, teaching, and service activities reflect our three program foci: Relational development and enhancement in children, young adults, couples, and families; distressed children and families and relational interventions; and the link between relationship (parenting, peer, romantic) processes and relational and mental health outcomes. In addition to our undergraduate program offered in both traditional and online formats, we offer a master’s program and two doctoral degree programs, one in Human Development and Family Science (HDFS) and one in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT).
