Your opportunity:

Working with a dynamic team and under the general direction of the Senior Manager, Community, Global and Intercultural Experience, you will be dedicated to the enrichment of the co-curricular life of the campus, focused on orientation and transition programming and experiential learning opportunities for students.

As the Coordinator, Orientation and Co-Curricular Record, your role will be developing, coordinating, and evaluating programs and services to help students successfully adjust to university life and make the most of their experience during their time on campus, ensuring an emphasis on student development and equity. You will coordinate large-scale campus-wide orientation and co-curricular initiatives and events, such as Orientation and Welcome Day. This will involve creating and delivering workshops to enhance the student experience, and will assume responsibility for ongoing planning, development, and management of experiential learning strategies that engage students in co-curricular involvement at the University of Toronto.

Your work will involve extensive participation in committees, partnerships and communication in-person with campus stakeholders, as well as being the on-site lead or support for events, training and workshop delivery. These partnerships will require you to work closely with the other positions within the Office of Student Experience and Wellbeing, as well as Facilities Management, Retail and Conference Services, the Office of the Registrar, the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Office, as well as tri-campus colleagues.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities
  • Conducting detailed analysis on program efficiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities
  • Conducting detailed analysis of service usage statistics and feedback to inform planning activities
  • Preparing detailed risk assessment analysis and making mitigation and safety practices recommendations
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Assessing eligibility of activities for Co-Curricular Record Inclusion
  • Developing strategies that maximize outreach to students
  • Training and coaching student life staff and student leaders

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Minimum four (4) years' of related working experience in student services working with student organizations, and student program coordination, preferably within a post-secondary institution
  • Demonstrated experience developing, coordinating and evaluating orientation programming and activities for post-secondary students
  • Experience in student life event risk assessment
  • Strong experiential background working with diverse student communities and a commitment to improving and enhancing the student experience
  • Experience supervising and training casual staff and students
  • Experience designing and facilitating workshops in small, medium and large groups
  • Must have excellent organizational, written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Must be comfortable working independently and in a team environment, as well as the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Teams, and Zoom
  • Must be available to work some evenings and weekends
