College/Department Information
Founded nearly 200 years ago in 1828 as the nation's fifth public medical school, the third medical school in the southeast and the thirteenth in the nation, the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is the state's only public medical school. The Department of Neuroscience & Regenerative Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia is committed to cutting-edge research and excellence in education. Our research addresses fundamental questions ranging from genetic, epigenetic, cellular and circuit regulation and tissue regeneration to pathophysiology of inflammaging, neurodegeneration, psychiatric disorders, CNS injuries using a broad repertoire of experimental approaches.

The duties include, but are not limited to:

Participate in research data collection and documentation; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures; publish results in scientific journals; Perform a variety of complex chemical, biological, microscopic, immunohistochemical, ELISA, tissue dissection/preparation, histologic, statistical/computational procedures; Perform experiments using transgenic mouse models, surgical and behavioral procedures, learning and memory tests; Maintain mouse breeding colonies, genotyping and phenotyping; Maintain chemical inventory and protocols; Coordinate daily operation of the laboratory and daily coordination of animal room use; Participate in project planning and development of research protocols; Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in research, basic science or clinical laboratory particularly clinical trial research OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' research and/or clinical experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills
Proficient in computer software/databases
Ability to work independently
Willingness and ability to work with research animals
Excellent interpersonal, multi-tasking, organizational and verbal/written communication skills;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and other computer software/databases.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines despite often interruptions, maintain confidentiality, keep accurate records and make independent decisions

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Grade: R14

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
