Position Description:
The Manager of Undergraduate Student Services is charged with staffing the inaugural Undergraduate Student Services Office (USSO) in the Fielding School of Public Health (FSPH). Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Academic Programs, the USSO focuses exclusively on undergraduate academic advising, admissions, outreach, recruitment, and is responsible for developing and implementing enrichment programs, academic policies, and advising practices in consultation with program leadership and the faculty advisory committee. The USSO is also responsible for new student orientation, commencement events, and programs benefiting undergraduates.
The Manager works cooperatively and collaboratively with FSPH and campus administrators, faculty, staff, programs, and offices to promote undergraduate public health education. The Manager will lead a team of two academic advisors and several trained Graduate Student Mentors and is responsible for academic advising to both prospective and admitted public health majors and minors, which may also include referring students to campus resources or providing support on social and personal matters related to undergraduate education and student development.

In the 2007 edition of U.S. News and World Report, UCLA Medical Center was ranked best in the West, as well as one of the top 3 hospitals in the United States alongside Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Hospital. In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
