The School of Art and Design at Western Carolina University is seeking a 9-month, fixed-term faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice in Photography, effective August 2023. Western Carolina University in nestled in the beautiful Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina, and only 45 minutes from Asheville, one of the premier creative and cultural centers in the southeast. Responsibilities will include teaching studio and lecture courses and participation in faculty activities within the BFA- Studio Arts Program, School of Art and Design, College of Fine and Performing Arts and University.
Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until a candidate has been selected for hire.
Teaching Load: 4 classes in the fall semester and 4 classes in the spring semester
• Maintain dark room and digital lab, including ordering supplies
• Serve as faculty Advisor for the Camera Club
• Assist with recruitment initiatives
• Attend SoAD Faculty Meeting
• Oversee photography equipment check-out
Scholarship: no scholarship required for this term position
Anticipated salary is $55,000 and includes State of North Carolina benefits package.
