Description

The Director of Instructional Technology is responsible for the effective adoption of instructional technologies across all academic areas and delivery modalities.  Working as part of the instructional technology team h/she will oversee the work of the instructional technology staff ensure the production, identification, selection, and integration of instructional technologies that are aligned with discipline/programmatic outcomes and meet the standards of WSUTech.  H/she will collaborate closely with faculty, program leadership, and the instructional design team to ensure the effective and creative blend of pedagogy and instructional technology.  The position facilitates the creation and delivery of professional development opportunities focused on instructional technology and systems to new and existing faculty.  Additionally, the Director of Instructional Technology is responsible for the day to day operations of the ITAS department. 

Pay Rate: $65,000 p/yr
Schedule: Typically M-F 8-5, Primarily at South Campus

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


    Provides supervision for the instructional technologies team. Leads the Instructional Technology team, ensuring that all instructional technology components are student-centered, appropriate to drive the intended learning outcomes and meet college standard (WSUTech Course Standard).Researches, evaluates, and integrates new and emerging instructional technologies into the college curriculum.  Facilitates the continual improvement and expansion of the Colab as the hub for teaching and learning of instructional technologies at WSUTech.Leads the development and integration of multimedia production capabilities at WSUTech.Works collaboratively with the instructional design team to recommend the effective and creative blend of pedagogy and instructional technology to enhance instruction across the curriculum areas and modalities Collaborates with faculty and program leadership to identify technologies to support specific instructional goalsCollaborates with the relevant departments (IT, facilities, Accessibility/Disability services) to ensure the physical classroom technologies meet the needs all delivery modelsCollaborates with departmental leadership to set and implement department strategic plan Works collaboratively across all departments of the college to ensure the success of students and faculty.  Facilitates effective day-to-day operation of the Learning Management System (LMS) and the faculty support processes associated with the LMSIn conjunction with the Dean of ITAS facilitates the day to day operations of the department including budgeting, reporting, and systems maintenanceFacilitates the development and delivery of workshops, trainings, events, and resources to enhance Faculty skills in the use /integration of instructional technologies and WSUTech systems.Functions as part of the instructional technology staff, completing projects as assigned.Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Needed:
    Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Education or related field. Prior teaching/training experience in the adult education arena is required.Prior supervisory experience is required.Ability to research identify and integrate the cutting-edge instructional technologies is required.Experience with instructional technologies that enhance course delivery and student engagement regardless of delivery model is required. Experience with the integration of the learning management systems across all areas and delivery modalities is required.Experience with the effective integration of course/instructional design work with instructional technologies is required.Ability to work well with all age groups of students, faculty and staff. Skilled in working collaboratively with college committees, colleagues, faculty, educational institutions, business and industry, and the community.Effective time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a timely manner, and the ability to prioritize tasks, projects and goals.Professional-level communication skills, including excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate effectively with others in arriving at solutions to complex problems.

  5. Demonstrates the ability and willingness to handle new assignments, changes in procedures and business requirements.  Identifies what needs to be done and take appropriate action.  
  6. Completes assigned work; meets deadlines without reminders/follow-up from supervisor or others.
  7. Performs work conscientiously with a high degree of accuracy. 
  8. Participates in at least 20 hours of professional development activities to remain current with industry trends and advancements.
