Your Opportunity:

Working under the general direction of the Director, Community & Learning Partnerships and Access Pathways, and day-to-day general oversight by the Team Lead, Community Partnerships and Engagement, the Coordinator, Community Partnerships, will assist in coordinating community partnerships and engagement initiatives such as workshops, events, symposiums and non-credit courses. The incumbent will support the bridging of relationships between UTSC internal and external community stakeholders, and support community-university partnerships and engagement in accordance with UTSC’s community engagement model and strategy.

The Coordinator, Community Development, will develop, coordinate and promote community engagement projects and partnerships with internal and external organizations, help to research new sources of funding, assist in writing grant proposals, and support local community-university partnerships and initiatives such as UTSC’s anchor institution strategy which have a profound impact on the institutions leadership role in the community.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Interpreting and applying policies and procedures when making independent decisions
  • Delivering presentations at conferences
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Developing and maintaining partner networks to build capacity and collaboration with external agencies
  • Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities
  • Developing and implementing community engagement strategies and plans

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in, communications, business, critical development studies/leadership or relevant field of discipline and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in related fields such as community development, stakeholder relations, program planning and event management
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a variety of cost efficient community engagement projects
  • Applicants are also expected to show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment
  • Organized with excellent administration and project management skills
  • Strong attention to detail, deadline driven, strong relationships management skills, and ability to exercise discretion
  • Ability to understand the local community and knowledge of the UTSC Master and Strategic Plans and knowledge of the UTSC internal community is preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience with web development and social media, an asset
  • Must possess the ability to relate to community members in a manner which builds trust and confidence and be able to demonstrate the ability to implement programs preferably in line with the UTSC model of community engagement
  • Must have excellent organizational, written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Must demonstrate superior interpersonal skills
  • Ability to provide timely feedback on an as needed and/or urgent basis
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and adherence to confidentiality
  • A keen drive, with an enthusiasm and passion for community engagement and delivering results
  • Must be comfortable working independently and in a team environment
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Culture sensitivity, empathy is needed
