QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in business and/or a combination of equivalent successful business experience that demonstrates the required knowledge and abilities and education.

Preferred:
• Fluency in English and Spanish

Additional Eligibility Requirements:
• Valid driver’s license

Position Type & Work Schedule:
• Part-time
• Up to 19 hours per week

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of business operations including finance, operating control systems, human resource management, customer service, marketing, public relations, and governmental regulations
• Understanding of principles and practice of business ownership
• Understands current trends in business organization and management, including the economics and needs of the local business community
• Understands complex business problems; elicit and summarize sensitive information using interview and counseling techniques
• Communicate effectively in written and verbal forms, using correct English grammar, syntax, spelling, and business terminology
• Work independently to identify, prioritize, and complete tasks
• Works on concurrent projects in a dynamic environment, performing duties under strict time restraints
• Ability to communicate professionally, displaying tact and diplomacy when needed
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate, organize, communicate and present with a diverse population
• Ability to interview SBDC clients to determine their primary needs and establish the services to be provided
• Work with SBDC clients in the areas of venture feasibility analysis, business plan writing, business start-up issues, financial projections, marketing and sales, operation management, human resources, and other business management areas
• Work toward meeting established metrics in conjunction with Arizona’s state SBDC office

Work Environment:
• Indoor office with normal noise and lighting levels

Physical Demands:
• Must be able to drive a vehicle
• Prolonged sitting and viewing of a computer screen

Travel:
• 20% Yuma and La Paz Counties

Note:
• Position continuation is based on grant funding
• Location – Downtown Center
• No benefits

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
Advise business owners and prospective business owners who are SBDC clients and provide support for the Director in the coordination of SBDC programs.

TYPICAL DUTIES:
Serves Students. Providing one-on-one confidential advice to SBDC clients including the development of a business plan, seeking financing, and Marketing Strategies. Assist SBDC clients with successfully navigating personnel,
Bookkeeping, and other compliance issues.

Develop or assist in the development and presentation of business workshops, symposiums, and seminars. Work with economic and community development organizations to support business development activities and small businesses’ ability to obtain financing.

Capture data, develop reports, and maintain files as required by the SBDC.

Attend and participate in all pieces of training required by the SBDC Network.

Travel to Parker and San Luis as needed to provide counseling advice to SBDC clients.

Support and participate in strategic planning initiatives and performs other duties as assigned.
