Departmental Objective:

To provide excellent food and services to residents and students, faculty and staff.

Purpose of the Position:

Under the direction of the Food Service Manager 1, prepares or produces assigned Garde Manger (Keeper of cold foods) for Salad Bar, Sandwich Bar, and Desserts and Pastries. Completes a daily and monthly inventory and orders fruit, vegetables, and cold meats, desserts and pastry for assigned areas. To perform other duties as assigned to include but not limited to line serving and cleaning.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) and/or Competencies required and preferred:

Required:
Ability to read and write.

Demonstrated basic math skills.

Knowledge of all types of cooking methods by reading and converting recipes.

Knowledge of all Kitchen equipment.

Good organizational skills, ability to complete multiple tasks concurrently.

Ability to communicate in writing or verbally to both supervisors and subordinates.

Position will be exposed to temperature extremes and dangerous equipment, tools and machinery.

Position will be exposed to slippery footing and congested work areas.

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :

Required:
High school graduate or equivalent.

Supervisory skills.

High volume production experience.

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Preferred :

Preferred:
Food service sanitation certification.

Experience working in a university/college setting.

Salary Information:

Starting at $28,200, Commensurate with Education and Experience
