Location
The Rome campus will be the home campus for this position, with some travel required to all locations to fulfill job responsibilities.

Job Summary
This is a twelve-month faculty position in a multi-site college in the University System of Georgia. This position is 12-month faculty, regular full-time, and benefits eligible. This position has exempt status and therefore is not eligible for overtime. The teaching load is the equivalent of 21 semester hours across fall, spring, and summer semesters. This position is also responsible for the oversight and continued growth of the college’s multiple award-winning student news organization, its print and online editions, its social media presence, and its related podcast. Reporting to the division chair, the faculty member’s primary responsibility is teaching and advising students. Responsibilities
Teaches 21 credit hours or equivalent per year as assigned (day, evening or weekend) at Georgia Highlands College
Adopts and implements common course objectives as required by the division and discipline
Manages courses through systematic use of appropriate syllabi and accurate professional records of students’ class performance, attendance and grades
Announces and keeps regular office hours, dedicating 10 hours (or more) per week to assisting students
Maintains involved and knowledgeable participation in academic advising of students as required by division
Offers professional assistance in curriculum development, review, and instructional materials selection
Participates in the extended work of the college through participation in committees of the college or faculty, student organizations, and attends division meetings, full faculty meetings, town hall meetings, in-service training, and graduation
Engages in functions of evidence-based academic and program assessment, as required for accreditation, college compliance, and continuous review and improvement of student learning outcomes
Demonstrates meaningful service to the community and to the profession
Pursues continued professional development in academic discipline, technological applications for the classroom, and innovations and enhancement in teaching and learning
Serves as coordinator and faculty advisor for student media outlets, including the student newspaper and student podcast
Maintains the safety and security of the student media online presence through regular cybersecurity training and updates
Manages student media organization budgets, including seeking outside revenue via ad sales and/or grant opportunities
Hires, trains, and advises student workers
Oversees facilities and equipment for the Media Innovation Center on the Rome campus
Coordinates with other GHC schools and disciplines to develop cross-discipline academic and co-curricular opportunities
Coordinates with other GHC sites to increase student media presence and opportunities
Coordinates with community partners to build internship and job-training opportunities for students
Performs related duties
Required Qualifications
Master's degree with 18 hours in Communication, Journalism, or related field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with student publications
Experience in publication design and layout
Technology skills appropriate to the job duties (Adobe Suite, Office Suite, Google apps)
Prior teaching experience preferred
Proposed Salary
$48,000/year
