Job Summary

The Student Research Assistant Program (SRAP) Waring Virtual Reality position is an exciting new position at UWG. The Waring Laboratory is currently developing a virtual reality program for outreach and education purposes. The core responsibilities and duties of this position will focus on aiding in the development of this program. Tasks include, but are not limited to, the development of 3-D environments, the development of 3-D models, digitizing artifacts and importing them into a 3-D environment, writing code, and developing the program in both Unity and CoSpaces software.

Required Qualifications
  • The candidate must be an undergraduate student at UWG enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours.
  • Must have a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 or higher.
  • Will be required to complete the Waring Block Training Program before working with any artifacts or on projects at Waring.
  • The candidate must be able to work a minimum of 8-10 hours per week and for at least two uninterrupted hours per shift.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of an experience in anthropology, archaeology, history, and computing are not necessary, but preferred.
  • Experience in coding, game and level design, Unity software, and/or CoSpaces software (Blockly code) will be very helpful.

Physical Requirements

  • The candidate should be able to lift artifact and document boxes weighing up to 30 lbs.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Many of the skills and knowledge necessary for this position can be acquired and developed at the Waring Laboratory. However, there are a number of qualities that are important to bring to the position from the beginning:

  • The candidate will need to display initiative and demonstrate their ability work independently as well as collaboratively on this project.
  • The candidate should also have good attention to detail and must be able to communicate well in both written and verbal forms.
