The University of Tennessee-Knoxville Division of Diversity and Engagement is seeking an experienced professional for the position of Administrative Specialist III, the working title will be Assistant to the Vice Chancellor.  This is an exciting opportunity to affect the campus, contributing in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.

About the Position
The Assistant to the Vice Chancellor will report to the Vice Chancellor of Division of Diversity and Engagement (VC-DDE). This position provides administrative support to the Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Engagement and is responsible for the day to day operations of the office. This professional manages the Vice Chancellor's complex schedule (including travel); schedules and plans meetings and events. They should also be able to create, prepare and edit communications. Financially, they will make purchases, processes payments, and maintains financial records associated with those transactions. This person will supervise student office assistants and provides direction to other administrative staff as needed. They also manage space and facilities processes for the division.

Required Qualifications

    High school diploma and six to seven years of experience providing administrative assistance to an executive or senior level position, preferably in a Higher Education environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications

    Associates degree and five to six years of experience providing administrative assistance to an executive or senior level position. Bachelor’s degree and four to five years providing administrative assistance to an executive or senior level position. Familiarity with The University of Tennessee, its policies and procedures is desired.
Knowledge, Skills Abilities

Knowledge of UT policies and procedures and the ability to apply that knowledge to job. Political savvy and the ability to work effectively with university leaders. Ability to multi-task, problem-solve, and be detail oriented. Ability to handle sensitive situations with understanding, tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment. Excellent communication and customer service skills. This person must maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional behavior at all times.

Salary: The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and other qualifications and is accompanied by a standard university benefits package. This is a non-exempt, 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track staff position.
