The Assistant Director of Development will be trained and developed to successfully manage a portfolio of prospective donors and will qualify, cultivate, solicit, close, manage and steward gifts at the Conwell Society level and above ($1,000+) with a focus on building towards term and endowed funds ($10,000 - $50,000).  Reporting to the Director of Development at the College of Liberal Arts, the Assistant Director of Development will develop strong relationships through qualification and cultivation meetings which build toward effective solicitations of alumni, faculty, staff and friends. 

The incumbent will work in conjunction with colleagues across the University to identify new donors and design cultivation strategies. The Assistant Director will assist with crafting effective, persuasive, and professional written proposals and other materials for the securing of gifts in support of the College and university.  As part of an established development team, the Assistant Director of Development must be highly energetic, organized, flexible, resilient and an effective communicator. The incumbent must be comfortable achieving performance-related metric goals, building trust-based donor relationships and learning in a fast-based environment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree. A minimum of four years acceptable related professional experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

Required Skills & Abilities:
* Ability to bring creativity and effective strategies for a personal contact and solicitation plan that takes into account the individual donor’s interest, motivations, giving patterns and asks preferences, for each donor in his or her portfolio, in a timely and cost-effective manner.
* Ability to develop and sustain collaborative and supportive relationships with internal and external colleagues and prospects and maintain a positive and constructive attitude while solving problems. 
* Ability to professionally represent and protect the mission, goals and values of Temple University and the CLA. 
* Must have an entrepreneurial spirit and a high motivation to achieve within an ambitious result driven environment with leadership skills for success.
* Must be able to learn the mission of a complex, urban university, and persuasively represent its goals to multiple constituents.
* Must be a fast, astute learner who can translate principle of fundraising in the field.  
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects or assignments simultaneously.
* Must maintain a positive and constructive attitude.
* Must be able to travel and work evening and weekend hours.
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated comfort interacting with a diverse group of individuals both inside and outside of the university.
* Must demonstrate flexibility, creativity, strategic-thinking, and intellectual curiosity.
* Must be willing to take initiative and learn.

Preferred:
*Experience in a higher education setting.
* Success in developing and sustaining collaborative relationships with key donors, volunteer leadership, senior staff and colleagues.

This position is temporarily assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
