Job OverviewUC and The College of Cooperative Education and Professional Studies (CCPS) is now looking to fill the following position:

Visiting Assistant Professor, College of Cooperative Education and Professional Studies (CCPS)

Appointment: Non-Tenure, 12 month

Date of Appointment: August 15th, 2023

The role of Visiting Assistant Professor will include 100% workload effort applied in classroom teaching and professional practice advising of cooperative education students.

Essential FunctionsThe core responsibility of Visiting Assistant Professor in CCPS is fostering the professional development of students and preparing them for what comes next, whether it be a gainful career or post-graduate education. Specific responsibilities that support student success include:

  • Teaching professional development courses for designated majors, which involves engineering and IT.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to develop courses.
  • Designing curricula in alignment with student needs and the goals of the college(s)/unit(s) we support.
  • Organizing lessons that support learning outcomes.
  • Developing and leading interactive instruction (in-person and online).
  • Monitoring student learning and course progress.
  • Preparing materials that are universally accessible (ADA Compliant).
  • Communicating effectively to students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Advising students 1-on-1 or in small groups.
  • Valuing diversity in all forms and cultivating a culture of belonging.
  • Working collaboratively with our Partnership Development Team to create employment opportunities for students.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master's degree with minimum three years of professional work experience.
  • Demonstrated organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Effectiveness in interpersonal relationships and the ability to work harmoniously with a variety of interest groups.
  • Experience (or transferrable skills) that prepare the candidate to carry out the primary responsibilities of this position.
Additional Qualifications Considered
  • The credentials of the selected individual should illustrate successful instruction of cooperative education and/or academic internship curricula.
  • The promotion or development of experience-based educational opportunities.
  • Experience working with external partners (e.g., industry).
  • Individual major assignments will be subject to enrollment at the time of appointment.
