At the KU School of Education and Human Sciences, assistant/associate/full teaching professors incorporate teaching excellence through engagement with students and continued scholarly activity to further and transform learning outcomes by developing new practices or learning engagements to innovate the areas of teaching and learning. Faculty across the school are available as active collaborators throughout the course of the appointment. Job Description60% - Teaching
Nine credit hours per semester (Fall and Spring) in the Sport Management program at the University of Kansas. Anticipated course load is three face-to-face or hybrid (part online, part face-to-face) courses in the undergraduate program each semester. The specific courses will be determined based on program need.
20% - Program Director
Candidate will serve as undergraduate program director, contribute to sustaining program standards, and coordinating all aspects of both the undergraduate major and minor. The candidate will work with the department chair to develop a strategic vision for the program, coordinate teaching schedules for each semester, and completing yearly formal and informal evaluations of the major and minor.
10% - Service
Candidate will also contribute to the service mission of the HSES Department, School of Education and Human Sciences, and the University of Kansas.
10% Scholarly Engagement
Active in scholarly engagement activities including but not limited to carrying out course transformation, assessment of learning outcomes, development of pedagogical teaching practices that expand and delivers new methods of teaching to precipitate dynamic learning engagements or other activities to implement innovations in teaching and learning. Scholarly engagement is broadly defined, but typically, not exclusively, includes participation in or presenting professional development and workshops, scholarly presentations at meetings, publications, documenting and disseminating the results of inquiry into improving teaching and learning.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D., Ed.D., or other terminal degree (or ABD, must be completed with degree by end of the first year of employment) in Sport Management or related field.
- Served as the lead or co-instructor for at least one course in a university setting.
- Experience working with diverse populations as evidenced by application materials and interview.
- Experience as a sport management professional.
- Intermediate to advanced technological skills, including experience with online/remote education.
