Job Summary
Responsible as a member of the Cyber Security Operations Team to participate and help protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Institute assets and intellectual property. Effectively communicate with department management and staff regarding the status of ongoing security incidents and overall information security risk. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Department management, faculty and staff
This position typically will advise and counsel: Department management, faculty and staff. This position will supervise: Assigned staff and students.
Job Duty 1 -
Monitor for and triage security requests and incidents, complete first touch resolution where possible and escalate to the appropriate Security Operations Center tier where applicable.
Job Duty 2 -
Collect, analyze, and distribute cyber news and intelligence to other teams within Cyber Security and other applicable campus units.
Job Duty 3 -
Effectively communicate with department management and staff regarding the status of ongoing security incidents and overall information security risk.
Job Duty 4 -
Support system administrators to achieve effective vulnerability and patch management.
Job Duty 5 -
Coach junior members of the Security Operations Center and serve as the escalation for tier 1 level security requests and incidents.
Job Duty 6 -
Participate as a member of the Security Incident Response Team to respond to, and report on, security incidents according to documented procedures and guidelines.
Job Duty 7 -
Work with the Security Operations Center's advanced capabilities team to validate procedural changes and perform acceptance testing on automated workflows.
Job Duty 8 -
Engage in the continuous improvement of security operations tools, techniques, and procedures.
Job Duty 9 -
Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree Computer Science, related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Required Experience
Six to seven years of job-related experience.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP); Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC); Certified Incident Handler.
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree.
Preferred Experience
Seven or more years of job-related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three (3) years team Lead or Supervisory Experience
Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesABILITIES
Strong ability to manage and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population, perform and effectively, make important decisions under pressure, communicate complex technical subjects to non-technical audiences, and effectively manage/direct team.
KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge in the application of information security concepts, principles and practices; knowledge of technical security solutions (firewall, instruction prevention, vulnerability management); network security applications, and common internet protocols and applications.
SKILLS
Proficient in written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, customer service, organization, problem-solving, and strong attention to detail; proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
