The primary responsibility of an Administrative Assistant I is to provide administrative support to assist with operation of the office. An Administrative Assistant I must support managers, employees, and students through a variety of tasks related to meeting the needs of the department. An Administrative Assistant I must effectively communicate via phone and email to ensure all duties are completed accurately and delivered with high quality in a timely manner. 

A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:  

Handle office tasks such as filing and setting up for meetingsOrganize and maintain paper and electronic filesAnswer a multi-line phone system with the ability to screen phone calls and route callers to the appropriate partyAssists with entering required information into the applicant databaseRemains competent and current by attending professional development courses/training as directed by the department directorGreet and assist employees, students, and guests while maintaining a polite and professional attitudeProduce and distribute correspondence such as memos, letters, faxes, and formsReceive, sort, and distribute mail accordinglyComplete special projects as assigned

Washington Street, Owosso, Michigan 48867 RequirementsMINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  Associates degree from an accredited college or university required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of 2 years of office administrative experience preferred. Excellent customer service skills required Knowledgeable and proficient in computer skills, which allows for the use of computer related technology Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills Ability to secure confidential material, as needed Must have ability to operate multi-line phone system Possess excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work Ability to operate and troubleshoot printers, postage machines, and copiers  Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos Ability to write simple correspondence Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the College.
