Position Summary:

The Admissions and Registration Coordinator will handle administrative (non-clinical) aspects of the patient encounter, achieving an ideal patient experience, while collecting and maintaining accurate demographic and insurance information on each hospital account record/encounter. The incumbent offers friendly, courteous assistance to patients, provides support to the clinical care team, exhibits positive and professional demeanor. The position includes, but is not limited to working in a high-intensity environment that operates 24/7, achieving proficiency in Epic Patient Access, Grand Central and Hospital Billing modules. The Admissions and Registration Coordinator must have excellent communication and customer service skills as the position interacts with a diverse team and patient population. The role is responsible for executing activities including registrations, scheduling, time-of-service collections and obtaining authorizations and providing same day admission notification to payers.

Education:

High school Degree or equivalate.

Work Experience:

Two year relevant experience in a medical office, or hospital, Ability to successfully demonstrate all aspects of the job.

Licensure/Certification:

Successful completion of all required EPIC courses and Patient Insurance training required within 90 days.

Knowledge/Skills:
  • Ability to interact successfully with the public. Ability to perform effectively despite sudden deadlines and changing priorities; maintaining personal composure in high stress situations.
  • Ability to adapt to a variety of circumstances in multiple settings including at the bedside and trauma bay areas. Work may require contact with aggressive and/or combative patients, and accessing isolation rooms.
  • Ability to demonstrate and convey a favorable image of the organization and to conform to proper standards of professional dress, attitude and demeanor. Ability to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, patients' families/visitors and clinical staff.
  • Ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy and with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to use initiative and judgment and to identify, analyze and solve problems.
  • Must demonstrate ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Must have the ability to comprehend, apply, and follow all policies and procedures. Must have the ability to adapt to an ever changing work environment. Must be open to cross training and working in other areas within JHHS.
