Summary of Position: Wesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University invites applications for a full-time faculty appointment in Christian Ministry to begin July 1, 2023. Qualified applicants should have academic and professional expertise in Practical theology, Bible, Pastoral Care, Leadership or Christian Ministry related fields and demonstrate a commitment to theological education, theological scholarship, and the formation of pastoral ministry leaders in a variety of settings. Applicants must hold a terminal degree (PhD or equivalent) in one of the fields stated above; must hold an MDiv or equivalent; and pastoral experience in a local church is strongly preferred.

Wesley Seminary faculty must be committed to excellence in engaging adult learners in both online and onsite modalities; possess a heart for the local church; view teaching as a service to the church; and embrace the Wesleyan tradition. Significant experience in local church ministry is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities will include a teaching load of 21 credit hours per year, oversight of existing and emerging courses in Christian Ministry offered in the MA, MDiv, and DMin programs, and relevant institutional service to Wesley Seminary and IWU. Duties and Responsibilities

  • A teaching load of 21 credit hours per 12-month contract period
  • Responsibilities will include a teaching load of 21 credit hours per year, oversight and assessment of existing and emerging courses in related fields offered in the MA, MDiv, and DMin programs in Wesley Seminary’s Theological Education in Spanish, and relevant institutional service to Wesley Seminary and IWU
  • Coaching and mentoring of Affiliate and Adjunct faculty
  • Development of additional course offerings in one’s field of expertise and related subject areas
  • Possible additional teaching in the areas of Christian ministry and spiritual formation
  • Relevant institutional committee work and service, and relevant scholarly activity

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Applicants must hold a terminal degree (PhD or equivalent) in Practical theology, Bible, Pastoral Care, Leadership or Christian Ministry related fields; and must hold an MDiv or equivalent

Experience

  • Pastoral experience in a local church is strongly preferred
  • Fluency in Spoken and Written Spanish must be demonstrated

Required Skills

  • Significant experience in local church ministry and a heart for the local church and training pastors and Christian leaders
  • Teaching experience, especially online, is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Excellence in knowledge and skills in relation to the appropriate field(s).
  • Competence in teaching ability, along with an eagerness to improve
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • An enthusiasm for the Wesleyan tradition and ability to function well within a learning community hosted by The Wesleyan Church
  • Facility with educational technologies such as Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel), online learning management systems, and other supplemental tools (e.g. audio and/or video recording)
