Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto)

Description:

The Division of Cardiology and the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre at University Health Network (UHN), a University of Toronto (U of T) teaching hospital, are seeking applicants for the Reuben and Florence Fenwick Family Professorship in the Medical Management of Heart Failure. The successful candidate must already hold, or be eligible for, a full-time clinical (MD) or academic appointment within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, U of T, at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The term of the Professorship position is 5 years with the opportunity for one 5-year renewal following a successful review. The expected start date is May 1, 2023, or as mutually agreed upon.

The Professorship holder will integrate, build and strengthen the existing team’s efforts, and champion collaborative heart failure research at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre at UHN. The Professorship will provide salary support that will allow the successful candidate release time to focus on the important activities of research and education in the area of heart failure, in addition to direct clinical activity.

We welcome applicants working in any research domain directly relevant to the medical management of heart failure. The successful candidate must have a strong research focus and hold an MD and hold or be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. The candidate’s excellence in scholarly achievement should be evidenced by international collaborations and peer-reviewed publications in leading journals. A track record of collaborative science, productivity, excellence and leadership is essential.

The Professorship holder will report their teaching and research activities annually to the Division Head of Cardiology, to UHN, and to the Foundation, which will provide a copy to the Fenwick Family and/or it’s designate. The value of the Professorship will be approximately $40,000 per annum.

The Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research, launched in 2014, represents an unprecedented combined investment of $270 million focused on addressing heart failure across the lifespan. Created by an extraordinary donation of $130 million from the Rogers family, and contributions totaling $140 million from its three founding partners, Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), UHN and UofT, the Centre has embarked on an ambitious research program focusing on three major themes: Cardiac Precision Medicine, Excellence in Heart Function and Translational Biology and Engineering. For more information regarding the Centre see www.tedrogersresearch.ca.

Applications will be accepted until March 1st, 2023, or until the position is filled.

Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest, three letters of reference and curriculum vitae via e-mail to:
