Applications are invited for a temporary part time post (3 days /week 0.6 FTE ) of a Document Controller within UCD National Virus Reference Laboratory.

The National Virus Reference Laboratory (NVRL) plays an important role in the Irish Health Services as the principal diagnostic and reference service for clinicians investigating virus infections. The laboratory offers approximately 120 tests for the diagnosis of at least 45 different pathogens and the current workload involves performing in excess of 800,000 tests per annum. The laboratory provides a 24/7 clinical and technical on call service to deal with urgent testing requirements and to support the National Transplant Programme.

The NVRL is accredited by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a National Laboratory for Poliovirus, Influenza, Measles and Rubella. The NVRL is also accredited by the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB) to undertake testing as detailed in the Schedule bearing the Registration Number 326MT, in compliance with the International Standard ISO/IEC 15189:2012 3rd Edition Medical laboratories - Requirements for quality and competence.

The Document Controller will have responsibility for controlling and managing all quality documents of the NVRL through the use of the Quality Management software package Q-Pulse. Additional functions include assisting with the preparation and revision of quality documentation to ensure compliance with the QMS and the aforementioned regulatory organisations. Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills are required in addition to good secretarial skills and computer literacy

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
