THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA (OU), Norman is seeking a Rank Renewable Term (RRT) faculty position for the Hydrology and Water Security (HWS) Program.  This initiative is a joint venture between the Schools of Civil Engineering and Environmental Science, Meteorology, Geography, and Geology. The position reflects the strong commitment of OU to invest in our long-standing strengths and innovative research and education portfolios in hydrology, hydrometeorology, and weather extremes and emerging strengths in environmental sustainability and coupled human-natural system resilience.

We are seeking an experienced individual who has a broad skill set to carry out several critical teaching, service, and research functions to help maintain and grow our HWS program. It is expected that the successful candidate will teach in the online MS-HWS Program, including developing new courses, will be able to articulate and pursue a vision for advancing water research in local and global contexts, and will be able to provide administrative service for the HWS program as Executive Administrative Director. As such, duties would include assisting the Board of Directors in carrying out the vision of the HWS program, particularly with regard to the online MS program, in the areas of student admissions/advising, mentoring, curriculum changes, and teaching assignments. The successful candidate should be able to foster a robust and respectful educational environment.

Qualifications:

The following are required qualifications: An earned Ph.D. in hydrology and water resources, civil engineering, environmental remote sensing, hydrometeorology, geography, environmental science, or a closely water-related field; at least 10-years of experience in academia; experience developing and teaching online courses; familiarity with graduate admissions and matriculation processes; and demonstrated experience working with multidisciplinary teams. Strongly desired qualifications include the following: demonstrated ability to secure external funding from a variety of federal agencies and managing subsequent research projects to completion; and expertise, as evidenced by publication record, in the broad area of computational hydrology and hydraulics.
