The Director of Financial Aid will report to the Assistant Vice President for Financial Aid and will play a crucial role in the planning and direction of the office including day to day operations, advising, processing, monitoring, and the reporting of numerous financial aid programs.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree in related field; Master's Degree preferred.

Experience:

    5 years of financial aid experience; 2 years of supervisor experience preferred.
  • Experience in understanding of need analysis, verification, and financial aid packaging; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills to develop collaborative working relationships; and proficient skills with new technology and information systems to assist in an efficient student financial aid processing and packaging process.
  • Candidates must be able to support and contribute to the mission and identity of the College as a Benedictine, Catholic, and Liberal Arts institution.
Essential Duties:

    Organize, administer, manage, and evaluate a comprehensive financial aid office. Supervise the Datatel Colleague financial aid computerized delivery systems. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Financial Aid staff. Ensure that the college's financial aid policies are in agreement with federal and state regulations and acquire approvals for federal and state funds. Plan, develop, and organize financial aid programs in accordance with state and federal regulations to ensure that eligible students receive needed financial and educational assistance.Develop and implement annual funding proposals, program plans, budgets, and final reportsDevelop goals and objectives, staffing recommendations, and capital outlay needs. Allocate student financial aid resources and authorize disbursement of funds.Supervise awarding of financial aid including intake, analysis of student financial need, record maintenance for auditing, work study, and other activities. Prepare proposals and applications for federal financial aid/loan funds and fiscal reports. Review legislation, code, policies, and procedures related to financial aid. Recommend the development of or revision to related policies and procedures. Supervise monitoring of academic progress for financial aid students. Review and approve all student petitions to include professional judgment and need analysis. Develop and direct the scholarship program. Develop, coordinate, and supervise recruitment programs for economically or educationally disadvantaged students.Provide leadership and training to ensure that staff remains aware of and familiar with policies and regulations governing financial aid programs. Work with college staff to develop informational materials such as brochures, newsletters, and handbooks.Represent Saint Vincent College at local, regional, and state meetings.
Successfully candidates should demonstrate:

    Knowledge of state and federal regulations and guidelines governing financial aid, including Title IV.Knowledge of the principles and practices of private higher education organization and structure.Knowledge of general accounting procedures.Knowledge of business management, leadership, and supervision.Knowledge of institutional policies that govern admissions and registration.Knowledge of immigration and naturalization service categories of citizens, residents, and visas.Knowledge of college programsKnowledge of Datatel Colleague data management computer software.Knowledge of tutorial services.Ability to develop and manage budgets.Ability to make effective decisions and take independent action.Ability to analyze and evaluate data for specific use. Ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures.Ability to prioritize workload and conflicting demands.Ability to effectively work in a demanding environment.Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, with a variety of student, staff, and management groups.Ability to demonstrate organizational, time management, analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to demonstrate presentation skills.Ability to operate a computer and use related software.
