Vice President for Mission Integration

Rutherford, New Jersey

Felician University is seeking an innovative, dynamic, and collaborative leader to serve as its Vice President for Mission Integration.

Founded in 1942, Felician University is one of the few Franciscan universities in the country, and the only one in New Jersey. Felician is an independent co-educational Catholic university of approximately 2,400 students. The University is founded and sponsored by the Felician Sisters to educate a diverse population of students within the framework of a liberal arts tradition.

Its mission is to provide a full complement of learning experiences, reinforced with strong academic and student development programs designed to bring students to their highest potential and prepare them to meet the challenges of the new century with informed minds and understanding hearts. The enduring purpose of Felician University is to promote a love for learning, a desire for God, self-knowledge, service to others, and respect for all creation.

Reporting to the President and serving on the President’s Cabinet, this executive position will strengthen and promote the Felician-Franciscan, Catholic identity of the University in ways that are engaging and transformative at all levels of the University community. The Vice President for Mission Integration will be responsible for the clear articulation and broad communication of the University’s Felician-Franciscan, Catholic mission, and Core Values for Ministry, while strengthening this identity and mission both on the university campus and beyond.

The Vice President will lead the Office of Mission Integration, which includes the Department of Campus Ministry and the Blessed Mary Angela Institute. Building on a strong campus commitment to the University’s Felician-Franciscan, Catholic mission, the new Vice President will oversee the development and implementation of initiatives to engage the board of trustees, administrators, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and benefactors in deeper education and ongoing formation, helping these groups to make the mission their own and apply it concretely to their work and life. The position will collaborate closely with the other Cabinet members to accomplish shared goals that allow Felician University to live more authentically its Felician-Franciscan, Catholic mission.

This role requires a bachelor’s degree and a graduate degree in theology, Catholic studies, or other related field. Felician University is seeking a Vice President for Mission Integration who possesses in-depth knowledge of the Catholic intellectual tradition and identity, as well as a deep familiarity with, and personal experience of, the Franciscan Intellectual tradition and spirituality.

The next vice president will be a creative and collaborative leader who brings leadership experience in communicating mission across multiple stakeholders, building teams, guiding change in a dynamic organization, and managing resources.  This individual will be a collaborative, service-oriented, resourceful, enthusiastic, present and approachable, empathetic, collegial, and focused on the organization over self.
