Job Description:


Title: Employment & Training Fund (ETF) Job Placement Coordinator


Unit: Non Union Professional


Department: Workforce Development


Reports To: Center for Workforce Development Assistant Director


Date: January 24, 2023


General Summary:


  • Coordinates and manages career readiness and job placement services for Employment and Training Fund trainees.
  • Serves as the initial point of contact for ETF students seeking job opportunities after completing training.
  • Collaborates with the Center of Workforce Development and c4SBT staff to improve ETF placement opportunities.
  • Assists students in developing and implementing career plans and job search strategies (i.e., provides career advisement; assesses skills, interests, and job readiness of students, administers and interprets career-related inventories; assists students with planning; meets with students to help with job search strategies, provides support for students entering the job market; posts employment opportunities; recruits students for available job opportunities; refers students to specific employers; coordinates placement of students into positions related to their program of study and customizes services to meet student needs).
  • Designs and delivers career development workshops and orientations (i.e., designs and presents workshops on assessment, career exploration, resume and cover letter writing, networking strategies, job interviewing, and organizes and implements job and career fairs) to help students attain their employment goals.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with employers, Community Based Organizations (CBOs), and the community to identify job opportunities and inform them of work-ready students who may be a match for such opportunities.
  • Maintains appropriate knowledge about jobs in industries related to workforce programs offered by the college. Obtains information regarding career placement activities (i.e., develops marketing materials to market career services to students and employers; updates labor market trends; disseminates information to staff and students on employment opportunities.
  • Act as a liaison between the local career centers and community college partners. Ensure cross-communications occur between Roxbury Community College, local career centers, and other business partners.
  • Coordinates job opportunities with local businesses (i.e., identifies opportunities directly related to the college's career-oriented programs; identifies and contacts local companies for potential job opportunities; invites employers to visit college; informs businesses about college certificate programs; coordinates job placement with employers).
  • Learns and supports CRMs and online career platforms (Handshake, Career Coach, Target X, Salesforce, Virtual Job coach, Wingspan, etc.).
  • Collect and analyze data to monitor and evaluate student outcomes
  • Serve students in a way that is asset-based and stresses equity for all students.
  • Provide timely and professional responses to students' telephone, email, and walk-in inquiries.
  • Collaborate with the marketing department to develop meaningful marketing material and social media branding to promote programs and students.
  • Update marketing materials for flyers and the website.
  • Attend college and community events to promote students' successes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Requirements:


  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Counseling, or a closely related field with two (2) years of experience and training involving career counseling, job placement, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Has two-to-five years of experience working with employers to place students, including grant-funded programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage programs.
  • Committed to continuous quality improvement
  • Maintains a positive and proactive approach to problem-solving and developing innovative solutions to address challenges.
  • Collaborative, self-directed, outcome-oriented, and strong customer service presence
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, creative thinking, and communication skills
  • Excellent written skills
  • Experience with data analysis.
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing projects
  • Skilled in Microsoft computer applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Human Resources, Psychology, Education, or a closely related field; with three (3) years of experience and training that includes vocational counseling, vocational testing/assessment, vocational referrals, employment services, or career development/transition; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of Career Development Standards and best practices to address student career planning
  • Experience working with students from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds who possess various academic abilities and interests.
  • Prior experience in an urban community college or with diverse populations.
  • Experience with online and hybrid courses.
  • Bilingual (Preference for Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean-Creole, or Portuguese).
  • Valid Driver's License



Additional Information:


Location: Roxbury campus with occasional travel to off-campus meetings as needed. This position will be eligible for a maximum of two days of telework in accordance with the College's telework policy.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
Expected start date: January 2023
