Job Title: Research Instructor (0.5 FTE)

Job Summary:

Provide biostatistical analysis and consulting for Pediatric Emergency Medicine researchers at the University of Colorado Denver, Anschutz Campus. The analyst will collaborate with investigators on all biostatistical aspects of the research process, including the design and development of new studies, structuring data collection systems, data reduction and analysis, and preparation of abstracts, talks, and manuscripts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Consult with pediatric emergency medicine physicians regarding research design, feasibility, implementation, data collection, database design, data analysis, and manuscript preparation
  • Meet with investigators to plan for new clinical investigations, including data collection and future analysis
  • Perform biostatistical analysis and data cleaning for retrospective studies, observational studies, large administrative databases, and clinical trials
  • Assist investigators with interpretation of raw data produced by statistical software and contribute to written aspects of manuscript and grant preparation, with respect to methods and statistical analysis.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
    MS in Biostatistics/Statistics, Master of Public Health (MPH), or MS in Epidemiology with Biostatistical emphasis and/or Epidemiology concentration or similar Experience with study design and analysis techniques, including univariate and multivariate analyses, particularly regression analyses (linear, logistic, multinomial, Poisson). Experience with data management, production of ongoing data reporting and graphics/table creation Proficiency in a statistical software package, such as SAS, SPSS, or STATA Substantial experience using other programs for data extraction, such as Oracle and Crystal. Experience working with large datasets, and knowledge of entity relationship diagrams and relational databases.

Preferred Qualifications:
    Must have strong personal direction and motivation: able to perform duties autonomously as well as under direct supervision Database creation and analysis, familiarity with relational data such as with Microsoft Access In addition to one of the statistical software packages listed above under "Minimum Qualifications", familiarity with NCSS PASS (sample size calculations), Epic electronic health record Minimum 2-year research or academic clinical experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Extensive knowledge of statistical software, such as STATA, SAS, or SPSS. Strong knowledge of database management, data verification techniques, and ability to perform quality checks on datasets Knowledge of research design and applied biostatistics. Current certification of COMIRB and HIPAA requirements for researchers The ability to simultaneously work with faculty and investigators on a wide range of projects will be required. Excellent written and oral communication

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$40,000 - $46,000 for 0.5 FTE ($80,000 - $92,000 for 1.0 FTE).

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
