Lecturer Pool- Engineering Management - Fung Institute for Engineering Leadership

Position overview
Salary range: Lecturer salary is based on highest degree completed, college level teaching experience, and equity within the department. TSP hours are a fixed rate per podium or coaching hour.

Percent time: Positions include TSP hours of 12-15 per class section and percent appointments of 17-25% per class section.

Anticipated start: Anticipated start in fall 2023 or future semesters.

Review timeline: Applications will be accepted and reviewed for department needs, through January 20, 2023. We typically review applications for annual course needs in February and August. If you wish to remain in the pool after January 20, 2023 you will need to reapply.

Position duration: Positions include 8 day boot camp classes and 8/7/10/15 week semester classes.

Position description

The Coleman Fung Institute for Engineering Leadership at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary, part-time instructors to teach engineering management topics in the Master of Engineering program (Berkeley MEng) should an opening arise. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed.

The MEng program offers coursework in technology innovation and management. We hire a number of qualified professionals and academics to hold temporary lecturer appointments to lend variety and subject matter expertise to our core engineering leadership topics:

    We hire for both Teacher Special Program (TSP) and lecturer positions, typically for one or more sections of one unit courses in a variety of formats and durations.

    Lecturers and TSPs are responsible for the course syllabus: curriculum development and delivery, student assessment through relevant projects, problem sets, tests and/or class attendance and participation, and grades.

    Applicants are considered for positions as needs arise; the existence of this pool does not guarantee that a position is available.

    Qualifications
    Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
    Bachelors or equivalent international degree required by date of application.

    Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
    Experience teaching college or graduate students by the start date of the job. Masters degree or equivalent international degree required by the start date of the job, or 5 or more years of industry experience.

    Preferred qualifications
    2 or more years of management or executive level industry experience. Experience teaching graduate-level business and management topics to engineers.
