Responsibilities

The Marketing Representative for the Florida FIRST project will provide communications, media, and journalism support to enhance recruitment and public outreach activities for the Florida FIRST project.

  • Develops and manages strategic internal and external communications for the Florida First project.
  • Provides expertise in targeting audiences through public interest communications.
  • Designs marketing and communications activities including, but not limited to: developing social media/website content, writing newsletters, press releases, website management/maintenance.
  • Creates high quality publications and recruitment materials to bolster recruitment activities of the Florida First project and to publicize key accomplishments of Florida First project researchers and investigators.
  • Designs publication materials for research press conferences, advisory committee meetings, and external engagements on behalf of project leadership.
  • Collaborates with research project investigators in multiple academic departments and research institutes to create and implement communications strategies related to Florida First programmatic impact to university practices and institutional culture.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school education/equivalent and experience equal to six years. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work assignments.
  • Ability to develop and implement a successful marketing plan/strategy.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships, including relationships with alumni and donors.
  • Experience with various writing styles for marketing and communications products.
  • Skill in analyzing and determining the most appropriate media and art in a digital format.
  • Knowledge of graphic layout techniques and art in a digital format.
  • Knowledge of contemporary communications and media trends, marketing research technique and tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and equivalent software.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.
Preferred
  • Experience with digital communications including social, electronic media, digital ads, e-blasts, and website management.
  • Experience in concept development and story presentation for web content and newsletters.
  • Skilled in preparing clear and concise reports, policies, procedures, correspondence, and other written communications.
  • Knowledge of web design and development.

This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.
