Duties and Responsibilities :

Teaches a 4/4 load (3/4 first year) that includes undergraduate and graduate courses in English Teacher Education (Secondary Level) as well as first-year composition courses; advises students; works with the College of Education to ensure English BS students follow university and state requirements for teacher accreditation; mentors and coaches students on PRAXIS exams; conducts research; serves on departmental, college, and/or university committees; writes proposals for public and private grants; networks with K-12 public school systems; performs other related duties as assigned. Course releases for research and special projects are possible. This is a full-time tenure track faculty position that may require teaching in the evenings and Saturdays. The successful candidate will start work at BSU in August 2023.

Experience:

A minimum of two years of college/university teaching experience is preferred. Familiarity with K-12 public school systems is a plus.

Education:

Doctorate in English or English Education

Knowledge Skills and Abilities :

The candidate should have expertise in English Teacher Education at the secondary level, literacy studies, basic composition, or writing assessment. Evidence of strong research capability and a strong, peer-reviewed, scholarly publication record in English teacher education, composition studies or a related area; demonstrated ability to effectively teach undergraduate and graduate courses in areas of secondary education and literature; knowledge of and experience in developing and evaluating undergraduate and graduate courses in English; demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, research/scholarship, and university/community service; excellent communication skills; digital information technology skills including Blackboard a must; bilingualism is a plus.
