POSITION SUMMARY:

The goal of the Pharmacy Clinical Specialist is to promote the safe and effective use of medications by working collaboratively with prescribers and the multidisciplinary health care team. This position contributes to the goals of the department by providing safe medication therapy within defined practice areas. Responsibilities include the complete assessment, recommendation, and monitoring of pharmacotherapy for specific patients ensuring that the highest quality and evidence-based standards for pharmacy practice are met. Along with other members of the health care team, this role is responsible for patient outcomes that meet the high standards of care provided by JHACH.

Location: St. Petersburg, FL

Hours: 1:00pm-9:30pm

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education
  • Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy with a Pharm.D.
  • Relevant Experience
  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Pediatrics or relevant specialty OR
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and 2 years hospital experience with pediatric patients OR
  • 4 years hospital experience with pediatric patients
  • Licensure/Certification
  • Eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Florida required. Must be obtained prior to start date.
  • PALS certification preferred. Must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • BCPPS or relevant specialty board certification preferred. Must be obtained within 2 years of hire.
  • Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrates high level of skills related to teamwork, organization, and prioritization of workflow.
  • Displays customer service and interpersonal communication skills required for effective communication with patients and health care providers.
  • Demonstrates high level of analytical ability in order to research and evaluate drug information, interpret patient specific data, and resolve problems regarding medication use.
  • Requires comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, kinetics, therapeutic drug monitoring and literature retrieval and evaluation as it relates to patient care within the area of specialty practice.
  • Requires working knowledge of pharmacoeconomic principles.
  • Committed to teaching, mentoring, and coaching health care professionals, students, and residents.
