Work Schedule, Hours per week: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., 40 hours per week

Pay Range: $73,851 - $92,314 *Actual pay depends on qualifications

Position Summary: Provides system and application administration support functions to college-wide instructional technology systems and instructional divisions for Academic Servers and Virtual environments consisting predominantly of Cloud and on-premise Microsoft, Azure, Academic Active Directory, SCCM and VMware. Responsible for all activities related to system and application administration. Ensures the long-term requirements of system and application operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization. Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of computer software. Implements operating system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system/application. Regularly provides advice and recommends actions involving rather complex issues. This includes planning, analysis, troubleshooting, integration, installation, configuration, operations, and maintenance of operating system on servers. Applies specialized depth and breadth of systems/application administration functions. Works independently with guidance only in the most complex situations. Resolves highly complex issues in creative and effective ways and performs analysis of situation or data that requires evaluation of variable factors. Recommends best practices. Provides guidance to less experienced team members. Leads in a technical capacity on functional teams and/or projects.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in a Computer or Management related area or equivalent combination of completed college-level classes and/or related technology certifications plus additional relevant work experience.
  • Experience and knowledge related to moving existing services or standing up new services in a cloud environment.
  • Three years' experience administering client support applications such as Symantec's Altiris or Microsoft's SCCM, Intune, SEP, ITSM software.
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in advanced enterprise application integration knowledge using the following technologies:
    o Active Directory.
    o Azure Active Directory.
    o Amazon Web Services.
    o Windows-based Authentication, Basic Authentication, Single Sign-on.
    o SSL.
  • Two years' experience administering a virtual desktop environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell.
  • Excellent problem solving/analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Highly motivated to work independently and effectively under pressure.
  • Two years supervisory experience.
  • Understanding of Cloud technologies.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Cloud Certifications - Microsoft, AWS or VMWare.
  • Strong knowledge of desktop applications and how they integrate with operating systems and other applications.
  • Experience with database administration, query and report writing.
  • Project management experience.

    Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • SYSTEM AND CLOUD APPLICATION ADMINISTRATION - Provides application administration for Academic application services for onsite and Cloud-based solutions (i.e.: Services in Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services, Microsoft's Systems Center Configuration Manager, Group Policy Management, Academic Active Directory. Provides oversite and roll up of daily system monitoring to include verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes; reviewing system and application logs; and verifying completion of scheduled jobs, such as backups.
  • Supplies daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.
  • Applies operating system (OS) patches and upgrades on a regular basis.
  • upgrades administrative tools and utilities.
  • configures/adds new services as necessary.
  • Audits hardware/software to ensure compliance with organization guidelines .
  • Maintains a database/library of all supporting documentation for hardware and software, including all operational SOPs, configuration, or other procedures.

  • Provides oversite for the installation and configuration of systems such as Academic Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and Microsoft Windows Servers.
  • Provide guidance on virtual technologies like Azure, VMware and AWS
  • Sets direction for maintaining system standards and ensure the accuracy of this documentation.
  • Works with the Security team to help set direction for security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
  • Manages Academic Active directory including Organizational Unit (OU), Group Policy, account permissions and user-related tasks.
  • Participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.

    With more than 34,000 students enrolled in credit and continuing education classes each semester, Johnson County Community College is the state's third largest institution of higher education and the largest of its 19 community colleges.

    JCCC offers a full range of undergraduate credit courses that form the first two years of most college curricula. The college has more than 100 transfer agreements with area colleges and universities that ensure admittance to specific programs such as business, engineering and education. JCCC students are able to begin their first two years of a four-year degree program here and complete that degree on schedule.

    In addition, more than 50 one- and two-year career and certificate programs prepare students to enter the job market in high-employment fields. The college maintains extensive student support services such as computer labs, math labs, a writing center and a learning center.

    JCCC’s continuing education program is the largest, most comprehensive in the Kansas City area. Through the Center for Business and Technology, participants can take courses in management and computer application or seminars and workshops that lead to professional certification and licensure. Personal enrichment classes, on topics ranging from gardening to money management, are also offered, while nationally and internationally performing and visual artists appear in the performance spaces and Gallery of Art in JCCC’s Carlsen Center.

    The campus, centrally located in the county on 234 acres, opened in 1972. There are 18 major buildings on campus. Currently under construction are the Regnier Center and the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art.

    JCCC’s full-time faculty and staff numbers about 875. Another 1,800 people work as adjunct faculty or part-time staff. Most faculty members have master’s degrees, and many have or are earning doctorates.

    JCCC returns about $2.70 to the community for every tax dollar it collects. The college's total tangible economic impact on the community is more than $182 million annually.
