Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Project Coordinator - Generation Glas within UCD School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Sciences - BiOrbic.

Bioeconomy SFI Research Centre. Generation Glas is a 24-month project funded through the SFI Discover Programme. It aims to train young people (16 - 17 years old) to become sustainability champions through an 8-month, part-time course.

The course will cover the scientific and political background of environmental sustainability, as well as develop skills in communication, community engagement and leadership. It will include a short intensive summer school hosted at UCD, followed by weekly online sessions after students return home. Students will also attend a field-trip to the Farm Zero C research project and a 2-day workshop in event planning. For assessment, students will be required to plan both a dialogue and STEAM engagement event in their local community. The course will run twice during the project timeline.

This project is a partnership between BiOrbic and For ige, Ireland's leading youth organisation. BiOrbic will provide support and expertise for the course curriculum, while For ige will aid in the recruitment and supervision of students. However, the Project Coordinator (PC) will lead and be responsible for the design, delivery, management and evaluation of the course. This includes putting the curriculum together, booking speakers, session logistics, procurement and providing support and mentorship for the young champions as they organise engagement events in their local communities. For this reason, it is expected that national travel will be required as part of the role.

The PC will also evaluate the programme with support from an external evaluation consultant. The PC will work within and be supported by the wider BiOrbic team and will ensure integration of the Generation Glas programme and associated activities into the Centre's wider public engagement programme. S/he will also contribute to and support the Centre's education and public engagement activities.

BiOrbic is Ireland's National Bioeconomy Research Centre. Salary Range: 40,000 - 45,000 per annum

Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
