The Office of the Vice President for Research is responsible for several internal and external reporting requirements that span multiple university systems. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Research Administration, the data specialist will be responsible for the reporting requirements of the division, as well as maintaining data integrity across technology platforms. 

The Audit and Special Projects Analyst will work closely with the Assistant Vice President for Research Administration, Director of Post-award, and the ERA Director.  Additionally, the Data Specialist will work with other units across the university based on reporting needs, including data from the Temple University Hospital System and Fox Chase Cancer Center.

Essential functions:

    Supports the annual Financial Statements Audit, Tobacco Audit, and Single Audit report through the preparation of schedules documenting award expenditures.  Assists with ad hoc audit requests, as needed; Prepares data related to rate calculations including the annual fringe rate, periodic Facilities and Administration (F&A) rate, service center rates, and IRB fees. Maintains detailed report files and methodologies to ensure consistency in rate calculations and audit responses.Prepares monthly financial reconciliations and journals across the university including clinical trial F&A and start-up fees, interest bearing accounts, and rogue labor. Prepares data reports for the Accounts Receivable and Billing teams related to outstanding AR, collections, and deliverables.Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of three years related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

Required Skills & Abilities:
*Working knowledge of all applicable computer software, and   management skills (including planning, negotiation, and communication skills)
*Knowledge of applicable professional principles, extensive knowledge of University policies and procedures, and financial and budgeting principles.

Preferred:
*Experience using the Banner ERP system (Research Accounting and Grants Billing modules), Cognos, SQL, and InfoEd strongly preferred

This position is temporarily assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
