Applications are invited for a temporary 5-year full time Technical Officer vacancy within the UCD School of Psychology.

The Position

The successful applicant will assist with providing a first-class technical service for staff/students as part of the School's IT Team. The context is a varied technical infrastructure with a support focus and the role involves considerable interaction with staff, researchers, and students. This position requires a broad range of technical skills with a keen interest in applying technology in education.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide training relating to educational and research technologies such as eye tracking, virtual reality (VR), electroencephalogram (EEG), and online survey/data collection platforms, to staff and postgraduate students/researchers.
  • Provide support for research using specialised equipment including EEG (ANT- eego MyLab 128ch & Biosemi 64ch), Neuronavigational System (visor2), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation system (TMS)(Magventure MagPro), Eye tracking (Eyelink & Tobii) & VR (Vive & Oculus). 
  • Provide support with bespoke software program development for researchers by programming in such environments as e-prime, psychopy, pavlovia, presentation, python/java/c++, including app development using C# or android studio. 
  • Provide support for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including supporting the development of modules and materials for training students in technical aspects of psychology research.

95 Technical Officer Salary scale: 42,127- 55,671 per annum

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
