Description:

The University Health Network (UHN), Division of Dermatology, in conjunction with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, is seeking an Academic Dermatologist with an interest in inflammatory skin diseases, in the Clinician Investigator track. The successful applicant must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment as a Clinician Investigator at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor within the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. The effective start date is July 1, 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.

A physician with excellent critical thinking and a research record is being sought to support the Dermatology program while advancing knowledge acquisition and clinical care in dermatology at the University of Toronto, Division of Dermatology. The successful candidate will be expected to be an attending dermatologist at the dermatology clinic at Toronto Western Hospital and participate in the dermatology consultation service at University Health Network Hospitals and contribute to teaching of learners. They will report to the Division Director of Dermatology at UHN.

The successful candidate must hold an MD degree, be eligible for certification in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Dermatology, have, or be eligible for, licensure in Ontario. An advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) or equivalent in health research is required. A proven record of scholarly achievements, in the form of research grants and peer-reviewed publications, is an asset. The ideal candidate must have the potential to enhance the existing research portfolio in inflammatory skin diseases including clinical or translational research. Particular areas of interest to the group include complex inflammatory skin diseases associated with multiple comorbidities such as hidradenitis suppurativa and pyoderma gangrenosum.

For the successful candidate, compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be competitive with the usual income range for an academic dermatologist in the province of Ontario, with a compensation no less than $240,000 per year. The dermatologist will participate in the UHN-Sinai Health System Department of Medicine Practice Plan.
