Job Summary:

Level II CDL Instructor Part-time Teach students how to drive safely in a variety of Class A and Class B vehicles.
Teach safety check off on a variety of vehicles.
Show proper equipment maintenance.
Instruct how to shift, back and drive.
Teach D.O.T. requirements
Perform student evaluations
Motivate students to succeed
Schedule and lead additional adjunct driving instructors.

Minimum Qualifications:

Hold a current CDL Class A license.
3 yrs. verifiable Over The Road experience.
Good communication skills.
Love of the trucking industry.
Passion to help others succeed.

Ability to deal with parents, students, faculty and staff in professional manner.Must be able to demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.Ability to plan, schedule, and manage projects and assignments.Ability to establish effective working relationships with others.Ability to promote the campus image.Ability to follow established college policies and procedures.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and see. The employee is occasionally required to sit, lift, push, bend, climb, pull and carry objects up to 40 pounds.

Classes are taught in classroom and lesson taught behind the wheel of a vehicle. Safety is of utmost importance while driving all LSCPA vehicles. There are hazards presented when teaching CDL courses.

Lamar State College - Port Arthur, a member of The Texas State University System, is an open-access, comprehensive public two-year college offering quality and affordable instruction leading to associate degrees and a variety of certificates.
