Position Summary

The Michigan State University Office of Financial Aid seeks an experienced, dependable, organized, strategic thinker with a track record of successful support to join our team serving as a Supported Programs Analyst. This position will support Financial Aid’s information systems related activities including setup, testing, security, troubleshooting, development of functional area specifications, and will use provided tools to deliver reports to end users under the guidance of senior staff. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for supporting Office of Financial Aid team members, project and integration partner teams, and technical and subject matter experts; assists with the delivery of system conversions, integrations, and training by developing project scope and objectives, creating work plans, schedules, project estimates, and status reports whilst maintaining compliance of current federal, state, and institutional policies. The Supported Programs analyst will support internal, cross-unit, and institutional-wide initiatives; possess project management experience and manage requirements throughout the project life-cycle; conduct business process analysis, establish a functional and technical vision for projects; develop and document processes and procedures; present and discuss functional and technical information to establish a rapport and gain understanding; evaluate the effectiveness of specific functional operations, recommend organizational changes, and serve as a resource and/or recommend process improvement for administrators and university offices across campus.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business, Information Systems, or related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive experience in a unit or college-level or central office working in the supported programs area of research administration and/or one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive experience working as a business analyst.

Desired Qualifications

An advanced degree in a related field and knowledge of Campus Solutions; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a higher education environment; effective strong analytical, reasoning, and problem solving skills; proficiency in researching and developing efficient and effective process improvement; excellent oral, written, time management, and interpersonal communication skills in addition to the ability to work collaboratively and under pressure in order to consistently meet deadlines.
