HR Coordinator
We are seeking a HR Coordinator, with direction from the HR Manager, who will provide a wide range of human resources support and consulting services to faculty, staff, students/trainees, supervisors and administration. Individual assists HR Manager to ensure compliance with university policy and procedure and exercise judgment in the resolution of human resource issues. Provides accurate, timely, routine customer focused HR support to multiple divisions. Assist HR Manager and Division Administrators with special projects.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

File Maintenance
  • Maintain highly confidential files and records on current and terminated staff.
  • Responsible for ensuring SAP Master Data integrity for all positions and maintaining personnel records in accordance with department, and University policy.
  • Provide HR Manager with transactional support in SAP for new hires, salary changes, position maintains, supplemental payments, etc.


Talent Management
  • Assist HR Manager by partnering with hiring managers to create job descriptions for new positions, submitting personnel requisitions, interviewing applicants, and assisting with the hiring process.
  • Process new positions and employee information into SAP system.
  • Coordinate placement of temporary staff as needed.
  • Maintain and manage personnel files for all new hires and terminated employees.


Payroll/Leave
  • Primary point of contact for faculty, staff, student and postdocs on payroll policies and procedures.
  • Prepare payroll forms; monitor and maintain appropriate payroll related documents; prepare weekly payroll; research and resolve payroll issues for employees.
  • Assist and advise employees on sick time, vacation time, holidays, leave of absence, family medical leave, payroll, benefits, etc.
  • Monitor time and attendance forms for staff via E210 system and manage/audit KRONOS.


Family and Medical Leave (FML)
  • Responsible for coordinating initial departmental efforts related to staff that require Family Medical Leave (FMLA).
  • Manage short term and long-term leave processes to minimize overpayments.
  • Maintain human resources records and computerized systems to track faculty and staff payroll information and generate ad-hoc reports.
  • Run weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly reports in SAP.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Assists HR Manager with strategic HR projects and goals as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Three years related experience.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service.
  • intermediate computer skills: Outlook/ email, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others both within the Division and across the University and JHM.
  • Creativity and resourcefulness are a must as is the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be a proactive, self-starter and resolve matters in an independent and timely manner.
  • The successful applicant will possess the ability to problem solve and resolve conflict; research, analyze and interpret data; communicate well verbally and in writing; anticipate needs and follow through; show good judgment and strong initiative; possess a cooperative attitude.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills with close attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple/competing priorities.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in human resources, business management, or related field preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of recruiting procedures and employment practices preferred.

Starting Salary Range: $17.95-$25.30-$32.60 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
