The College of Education at the University of Florida (UF) seeks applications for a twelve-month, non-tenure track faculty position at the level of Assistant/Associate Research Professor to begin in August 2023 within the University of Florida Prevention and Intervention Network (PIN) for Youth, Families, Schools, and Communities. The mission of PIN is to utilize prevention and intervention science to promote the healthy development and well-being of youth, children, families, and communities. This is accomplished in part by forging new multidisciplinary research opportunities, advancing collective impact through diverse dissemination opportunities, and engaging partnerships with stakeholders. The successful applicant will establish an independent, externally-funded program of research that aligns with the mission of PIN, as well as work collaboratively with a highly talented group of PIN faculty, postdoctoral associates, research staff, and students. Preferred research areas of focus include youth mental health, health and/or educational disparities, implementation science, peer aggression, cyberbullying, violence prevention, social-emotional learning, emotional/behavioral disorders, risk behavior prevention (e.g., substance use), and/or school-family-community collaboration. Candidates with strong methodological, data collection, and analytical research skills in quantitative research are encouraged to apply.

  • Pursue and obtain external funding for an independent line of research aligned with PIN's prevention and intervention science mission
  • Collaborate with university-wide faculty affiliates of PIN on multidisciplinary, externally-funded lines of research
  • Supervise research support staff across multiple projects
  • Co-supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate research projects
  • Publish in peer-reviewed journals and disseminate research via other formats to reach diverse audiences and stakeholders

This position is a non-tenure eligible Research Assistant/Associate Professor position that is term limited to 4 years and contingent upon grant funding and job performance thereafter. Salary is negotiable, competitive, and commensurate with qualifications and experience.     Expected Salary:

    Salary is negotiable, competitive, and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    Minimum Requirements:
    • An earned doctorate in psychology, education, prevention science, human development or closely related field
    • Strong program of research in prevention science focused on promoting healthy development of children and youth
    • Experience seeking external grants or contracts commensurate with rank
    • A strong record of scholarly writing commensurate with rank

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience securing and administering external grants or contracts commensurate with rank
    • Experience with multi-disciplinary research collaborations including project implementation and management, grant writing and development, and/or manuscript writing and dissemination
    • Experience developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with families, schools and community organizations
