About the Role

As the Lecturer, you will contribute to teaching and research activities within the Discipline of Mathematical Sciences, in the School of Science. You will be responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate, and postgraduate programs, including taking responsibility for the coordination of courses offered in statistics and cyber security via RMIT Online.

Furthermore, you will be expected to actively promote your teaching and research activities by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. You will work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation. You will be responsible for course coordination.

As the candidate for the role, you will also have an emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs in mathematical sciences.

About You

To be successful for level B appointment, you will have:

  • Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas, in mathematical sciences, evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver courses at undergraduate and graduate levels that align with and complement the established areas of strength, especially with regards to cyber security and statistics.
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative in teaching, including online or blended delivery, and the ability to produce high quality curriculum or course materials.
  • Ability to undertake course coordination roles. This includes for courses offered via face-to-face as well as via online portals.
  • Demonstrated capacity to adhere to organisational policies and practices and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning, particularly in an online learning environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates.
  • Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaborations.

Qualifications

Mandatory:

  • PhD or equivalent research doctorate in Mathematical Sciences.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check
