Wage Range: $49,000 - $64,500 annually, Depending on qualifications

We are seeking a Facilities Manager to work in our Santa Barbara, CA office on a full-time 37.5-hour per week basis. Flexible hybrid scheduling is available. This position will start in May of 2023. 

Summary

The Facilities Manager is required to manage, research, and negotiate all facilities related projects and contracts, and is responsible for making purchases, repairs, and upgrades to the three locations of the physical plant including, the president’s residence, McCune House. The Facilities Manager plans, implements, and oversees the maintenance program for all buildings and grounds, including the determination of when to solicit RFPs. The incumbent will also present and make recommendations to VP and CFO for approval and scheduling work projects with vendors and supervises one Maintenance Worker.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree; or equivalent facilities management work experience and industry knowledge.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  1. Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge of plumbing, HVAC and other building systems.
  2. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to speak with all levels of employees, guests, vendors and team members.
  3. Ability to work effectively both as a team player and leader with individuals at all levels of the organization
  4. Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate actions to resolve problems
  5. Ability to multitask and proficient in time management
  6. Ability to work independently, prioritize, follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion, with close attention to detail while contributing to a positive team environment.
  7. Knowledge and use of repair tools and equipment utilizing safety protocol.
  8. Basic skills in the maintenance and repair of plumbing, HVAC and other building systems and the physical plant.

    Fielding's History
    Fielding was founded in March 1974 in Santa Barbara, California, by Frederic Hudson, Hallock Hoffman, and Renata Tesch. The founders envisioned a nationally recognized graduate school based on two notions:
    •    Changing demographics were altering the world of higher education: greater numbers of mid-career adults seeking advanced degrees to enhance already established academic and professional skills.
    •    Adults learn differently than adolescents and young adults: The traditional pedagogical method of education-active teacher, passive learner-would not be appropriate.
    Fielding developed a rigorous, supportive learning model that is flexible, adult-centered, self-directed, practice-oriented, global, and competence-based. While most coursework is online, there are several in-person opportunities for students and others.

    Fielding Graduate University was founded on the values of equity, inclusion, and social justice. The university is a leader in higher education providing exemplary interdisciplinary programs for a diverse community of scholar-practitioners within a distributed learning model. Because Fielding is a distributed institution, its students, faculty, and staff are located around the world. Thus, the overall community the university serves is very much a global one. However, Fielding is also an active business leader in the local community of Santa Barbara, California, the location of the university’s main campus and administrative offices.
