JOB SUMMARY:
This is a professional full-time Cooperative Extension 4-H Program position under the leadership and supervision of the Assistant Extension Administrator State 4-H Program Leader.RESPOINSIBILITIES:- Increase the number of new youth stakeholders in the Fort Valley State University Cooperative Extension 4-H Program in Houston County. Responsible for providing positive 4-H Youth Development programming in the areas of: STEM, Civic Engagement, Leadership, novice Urban Agriculture education, Mentoring, and Healthy Living to underserved and underrepresented youth in: Houston County, Schools, Housing Authorities, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, youth in residential environments, and Faith-Based youth groups on a weekly
- Responsible for preparing Fort Valley State University Cooperative Extension 4-H Program youth to participate competitively at Georgia 4-H project achievement Responsible for working with the entire Fort Valley State University Cooperative Extension 4-H Program staff to facilitate annual 4-H Summer Programming Activities, National 4-H Congress, National 4-H Conference, National Healthy Living Summit, National 4-H Makers Summit, Georgia National Fair 4-H Competitions, and National 4-H Citizenship Washington Focus events.Must complete Fort Valley State University Cooperative Extension 4-H Program weekly reports, monthly 4-H reports, and Georgia Counts reports weekly.Implements traditional and non-traditional Positive 4-H Youth Development educational programs that utilize the 4-H experiential learning model through a variety of delivery contexts such as: non-traditional 4-H meetings, specialty clubs, afterschool activities, camps, and in-school enrichment 4-H club meetings.
- Ability to be creative and innovative in the design and implementation of effective 4-H Community Service-Learning Projects and support local fundraising activities that may assist with community 4-H programming activities. Establish local Fort Valley State University Cooperative Extension 4-H Program advisory councils to assess needs, provide input and direction for program area planning.
- Participate in Annual Cooperative Extension Program Attend Cooperative Extension Program trainings and attend a minimum of one professional development training annually.Utilize diversified teaching methods, respond positively to university policies, administration, supervision, and other program guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- Master's degree preferred in Sociology, Human Sciences, Social Sciences, Public Health, or related field. Bachelor's Degree required.
- Three to five years of experience with non-formal or formal teaching youth in diverse environments is required.
- Three to five years of professional working experience in Agriculture and Environmental Science.
- The Candidate must have demonstrated ability to effectively, create and sustain positive working relationships with community stakeholders and colleagues.
- Have professional working experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and basic knowledge in computer usage is required.
- Commitment to excellence. Bachelor's Degree required. Candidate must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Sociology, Human Sciences, Social Sciences, Public Health, or related field.
- A valid driver's license is required
