Job Summary:

Nature of Work:

The Department of Pathology at Children's Hospital Colorado, an affiliate of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, is seeking a full-time faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to participate in its Pediatric Transfusion Medicine Service. Children's Hospital Colorado is a nationally renowned tertiary care pediatric specialty hospital, consistently ranked in the top 10 children's hospitals in the country, according to US News and World Report. With one of the most skilled pediatric transfusion services in the country and state-of-the-art facilities, we support numerous active clinical programs. The practice setting involves a full spectrum of transfusion medicine clinical service, including a therapeutic apheresis and cellular therapy program, a robust in-house blood donor collection service, and transfusion service supporting a wide variety of patient needs including bone marrow and solid organ transplant, fetal maternal medicine, complex cardiovascular surgery, and trauma. Candidates should have experience in therapeutic apheresis. Experience in a pediatric setting is highly desirable. Candidates will assume major responsibilities for clinical care as part of this essential service at Children's Hospital Colorado in collaboration with current faculty members. Active participation in the training of medical students, pathology residents, pediatric fellows, and in the transfusion medicine fellowship program is expected. Academic and research productivity are encouraged. Board certification in Clinical Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology is required. Board certification or board eligible status for Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine is also required. The candidate must be eligible for a Colorado State medical license.

Qualifications:

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Assistant Professor:

    Candidates must be board certified in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology.

    Board certification or board eligible status for Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine is also required.

    The candidate must be eligible for a Colorado State medical license.

Associate Professor:

    Candidates must be board certified in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology.

    Board certification or board eligible status for Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine is also required.

    The candidate must be eligible for a Colorado State medical license.

    8 years of faculty experience at academic medical center and independent research or peer reviewed publications.

    Clinical, teaching and scholarship accomplishments sufficient for an appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, regular (tenure eligible) track required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Assistant Professor:

    Experience in a pediatric setting is highly desirable.

Associate Professor:

    Experience in a pediatric setting is highly desirable.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor - $210,000 to $270,000

Associate Professor - $265,000 to $300,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
