Job Summary
Reporting to the Counseling Services Director, this position will spearhead and grow the agency's training program for future mental health professionals, including those soon to be licensed as psychologists or mental health clinicians from other disciplines. The training director is responsible for the overall quality of the training experience and is ultimately legally responsible for the clinical care provided by all trainees to UWM students. This position requires knowledge and ongoing monitoring of trends in training, therapeutic interventions, and licensing requirements and communication of this information to staff members, affiliated programs and departments. In addition to serving as the agency's lead administrator on all training and staff development, the Training Director will engage in the full range of psychological services including assessment (diagnosis), evaluation, consultation and/or psychotherapy to promote the mental health and well-being of patients.

Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. or PsyD. in clinical or counseling psychology
State licensed in Wisconsin, or license eligible, as a psychologist
At least 3 years providing clinical supervision (post doctorate)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working as a training director/coordinator of a clinical training program
  • Experience working in a college counseling center and/or demonstrated knowledge of the nuances of collegiate student mental health
  • Experience treating clinical issues relevant to college populations, including but not limited to, alcohol/other drugs, trauma, eating disorders
  • Experience treating clients across various spectrums, including race, ethnicity, orientation, gender identity, ability and economic status through a social justice lens
  • Experience working with high risk and high acuity populations
  • Experience providing brief treatment
  • Experience providing crisis intervention treatment

    In addition to evaluating education, certification and licensing qualifications are met, the search and screen committee will be evaluating candidates based on evidence found within the application materials that demonstrates the desired experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as related to the minimum and preferred qualifications noted above.

    Starting salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
