Description:

A postdoctoral research scientist is sought who has the following skill set for a project that will investigate catalytic H2 formation by Mo sulfide clusters: Broad synthetic experience/know-how in both organic and inorganic synthesis. Familiarity with Schlenk-line techniques and glove box use is desired. The candidate must be familiar with routine methods of separation (e.g., chromatography) and be adept with routine physical methods of characterization, such as NMR, IR and UV-vis spectroscopy. Proficiency in performing and interpreting ab initio quantum mechanical calculations is desirable. Knowledge of how to use electrochemical techniques (cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, spectroelectrochemistry), if part of the applicant’s background, would be an advantage. Proficiency in speaking and in listening comprehension of English is essential for consideration.

The position will be met with compensation that is commensurate to experience. Health insurance benefits are included. The position is a one-year appointment that may be renewed subject to mutual agreement. Interested candidates should apply in Interfolio as soon as possible. Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry 
  • Candidates with a synthetic inorganic background are preferred, but strong applicants with a synthetic organic or physical inorganic background will be considered
  • Proficiency in speaking and in listening comprehension of English
