Description:

The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of development of molecular probes for biomedical optical imaging. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include a highly collaborative environment of the Department and will be offered an opportunity to develop an independent research program in academic setting. S/he will work with a personal mentoring committee, which will provide necessary guidance. The committee will formally meet at least two times per year while also being available on an ad-hoc basis as needed. The Research Assistant Professor will be officially affiliated with a laboratory of a primary faculty member/mentor, who will also help her/him to develop an independent research program.
S/he will have the opportunity to participate in many activities offered to faculty in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics such as departmental study sections, faculty lunch research talks, inviting seminar speakers, participating in faculty recruiting, service on Departmental or graduate group committees, mentoring students as well as presenting her/his work to the Department in formal and informal seminar settings.

Applicants with independent funding (e.g. K25 or K99 career awards), strong publication record, as well as strong mentoring records are encouraged to apply.
