Position Summary:The Department of Health Sciences in the School of Education and Health Sciences at North Central College invites applications for a collaborative and passionate candidate for a 12-mos visiting faculty member in Nutrition and Dietetics. The position is available immediately but start date may be delayed until January 2023. The School of Education and Health Sciences offers graduate clinical programs in Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy, and Physician Assistant Studies in a collaborative and interprofessional environment. The successful candidate will serve as the founding program director of the Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics program. The program director will be responsible for developing an innovative and interprofessional Master’s program and coordinate our efforts in seeking accreditation under the ACEND Future standards. Responsibilities include didactic and experiential curriculum development, program policies development, coordination with DPD program director, preparation and maintenance of accreditation materials, and development of robust supervised learning partnerships on and off-campus. This individual will teach within the program and other areas within the School of Education and Health Sciences as appropriate. The position as a Visiting Faculty Professor is a one-academic year appointment with the possibility of conversion to an ongoing position or renewal pending accreditation of the program.
Requirements for this position include: Ph.D. in Food and Nutrition from an accredited institution, or a closely related doctoral degree; Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD) credential; Three years of professional experience; Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills. Preferred requirements include 3-5 years experience teaching at the graduate or undergraduate level; Experience with experiential learning and curriculum development; and Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Community or public health nutrition, food service management, sports nutrition, geriatric nutrition, food insecurity and social determinants of health. Applicants must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students, and ongoing scholarship.
